Broad Cairn/Streak O Lightning
Black and Red (not for Beginners, hard climbs and steep descents with granite wheel busting off-lets)
| From the loch Muick car park ( remember and pay to park as it helps with the up keep of the tracks ) head along the South side of the Loch, until you come to a wooden bridge, after the bridge there is a Y junction , take the left up the steep track( If any Mountain biker can bike to the top of this track without putting a foot down will receive a bottle of 12 year old Malt for their troubles) Once at the high point of the climb carry on along the top. With great views all round keep going until you get to a tin pony shed, from there you can keep climbing to the top of Broad Cairn (Another Munro) or after a rest double back to the 1st single track on the left, you are now on the Streak O Lightning single track (watch out for granite drainage ditches). When at the bottom of the track go left round the west end of the loch past Glas Alt Shiel (Big House) and keep on the land rover track to the north side of the Loch and a first right onto the north side and next left take you back to your car. 13 miles if you go to the top of Broad Cairn and 11 miles if you don't. |
