11 Brigs

The 11 Brigs is a bigger version of the 7 brigs (Daah) but that was easy to work out, the 11 brigs is similar to the 7 Brigs but with more tracks added on and more brigs to crossover, hence 11 or 7 brigs. Oh by the way a Brig is Scots slang for Bridge. We start at the caravan site and go onto the track around the Golf course, once you are out the other end at Slovaniky picnic area keep to the track along the river side until you climb up on to the last part of the old Deeside line, keep going along the track across the Posty,s Leap and along to Birse's farm and take any right hand track up and onto the busy A93 at the Brig O Gairn,  Cross the brig and keep going to the next left taking you of road and back down towards the river and cross the Polhollick Bridge and turn right.  When you meet the B976 South Deeside road take a left and climb up until you see a old rusty gate on your right into the North end of the Alltcailleach forest, go through the gate and stick to the track down and onto the unclassified Birkhall road, go right and go along the road for about half a mile until you reach Mill of Sterin, go left round and past Mill of Sterin and over the Cocks Neck Bridge( be careful as this is a narrow road with steep blind corners) once at the top of the Cocks Neck go left and head along and take the first forest trail on the right, stick to the track until you get to the Chapel Loch fishing pond. After the pond take the next on the right up to a T junction where you take the left track down to the main B976 Ballater to Crathie road at the Bridge of Muick, watching for cars go right and about a mile you can go left over the Bridge into Ballater. Like most of the routes there are add on's but without local knowledge will be hard to explain, but for more info on this or any of the routes contact Club or the staff at Cyclehighlands.
